Why the Caspian Horse?
• They are the oldest equine breed still in existence apart from the Asiatic Wild Horse; they pre-date the modern breeds we love.
• They are prized for their comfortable confirmation, athleticism, and willing and kind nature
• No taller than 12.2hh, they are not a pony, but a perfectly proportioned small horse.
• Perfect children’s mounts, driving horses, and small sport horses
• They cross well with other larger horse breeds to make a larger mount and pass on their co-operative nature and athleticism
• The Caspian Horse’s status is either rare or endangered
Our Goals as a Collective
Promote and Educate
We had never heard of Caspians either, and it turns out they are really cool horses. They make great carriage-driving horses, children’s mounts, and sport horses. As we learn more about the Caspian Horse, its history and its place in the world today, we will be sharing our experience and knowledge.
Fund-raise
We are fund-raising for the future needs of these and other horses we may take on in order to preserve the breed. We’ve happily donated our time and talent. We welcome the generosity of people who can help us with the money part.
Work within the local horse community
The natural and necessary companion to our re-homing and breeding mandate is finding useful jobs for our horses. We see a lot of opportunity for the Caspians in our local horse community. We look forward to working with riders, drivers and coaches who are interested in exploring the potential of this breed for pleasure and competition. Contact us if you are interested.
Develop a breeding program
The Caspian Horse’s status moves between ‘rare’ and ‘endangered’. Having acquired a small group of Caspians with excellent bloodlines, with the help of other Caspian breeders, we will be creating a breeding program to commence in the spring of 2019.
